Marriage licenses and certificates, 1890-1907.

Consist of copies of marriage licenses and certificates completed on printed forms for persons whose marriage took place in the central division of the Indian Territory. The information given in each license and certificate includes the names and ages of the persons being married, date that the marriage took place, and the name of the official or minister who performed the marriage rites. Because there were no state or local officials in the Indian Territory, the U.S. commissioners performed many of the non-religious ceremonies. The records also include copies of $100 bonds posted by the bride and groom and affidavits of witnesses.
